The wisdom I've obtained from being in the world for the last 29-ish years is this...
Of course you can't control other people's actions, unless you're a parent; if you're someone who literally created or helped create another life, that's a huge responsibility you have to take responsibility for. I know I was redundant in that sentence but the point still stands: that is no big deal.
However, outside of that, you can't control other people, but you sure as hell can control yourself; how you react, how you act, how you think.
Yes, sometimes you're going to have shitty thoughts. You know how many times I've had terrible thoughts come to my head of loved ones not loving me, people thinking crappy things about me, or randomly thinking about driving off off-ramps to see what'll happen?
Obviously I don't it, it's just a thought, and I don't let it get to me and make me feel a certain way, it just comes and goes.
I feel like that's a big key to peace and happiness - allowing thoughts to just come and go. Come... and go.
I believe there really is a collective consciousness, so all these thoughts and mental energy that's being generated by us, we can tap into it, subconsciously or not; and sometimes when we tap into it, it could be someone else's thought you never would have thought of yourself, but somehow in that moment, whatever happened in that moment, that thought came to you.
Sometimes it's not your own thoughts, so you have to just let them come, and go.
True happiness is taking responsibility for your life. True happiness is knowing you have control of your life. If you're not happy with it, you can change it.
I'm not saying shitty things that happen to you are your fault, absolutely not. But, you can decide and you do have control of your own happiness.
Which honestly, I think that's great! I think that's amazing your happiness doesn't depend on someone else, it doesn't depend on some other thing, it depends on you.
In an instant, you can change your entire life merely with just your mindset. Plus a little bit of other things, but mainly your mindset and how you view yourself and the world.
In all honestly I believe we are living in such weird times right now because the collective consciousness is thinking about these things. Thinking crappy, unbalanced, shitty thoughts and taking unbalanced, shitty actions towards themselves and others.
So we as a collective have a responsibility to bring peace and happiness in this world, and how do we do that? It starts with you. It starts with your own self and your own damn life. If you can't be happy with the life you're living right now, how can we expect a happy, beautiful life for all in general?
Maybe I'm just rambling... which is what Thoughts by Another Human is about! Rambling; sometimes about ancient wisdom and healing practices, and sometimes it's me and my thoughts and how I view the world. But, I try to find peace and joy in my life even when I'm having bad days and I'm anxious as fuck. I can make my day better simply by changing my mindset, simply by bringing my awareness within, being aware of my thought patterns and what I'm thinking about and my actions and how I'm treating other people... if I don't like the way I'm presenting myself (whether to other people or myself), I change it.
Of course, it's not that easy. It takes time and practice. But my life is so much better, so much happier, and has so much peace and joy... like, I fucking love life now. And it took me a long goddamn time to get here. A long time of practicing being aware of my thoughts, practicing being aware of how I treat others, practicing being aware of how I treat myself.
It takes time; but, it's worth it.
True happiness is worth it.
But, it's your responsibility to get there and achieve that. And actually take action towards achieving that.
At least in my opinion.
